‘Safe and Healthy’ – Education team meets with Guyanese students in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa

THE Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, on Thursday had a heartfelt conversation with the Guyanese students who are currently in Jamaica braving the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa.

Minister Parag, joined by Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain, spoke to the students virtually, following their meeting with President Irfaan Ali and their continuous engagements with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.

The students confirmed that they are all safe, healthy, and appreciative of the government’s support. They have since received a quantity of care packages and will soon benefit from additional assistance including the creation a WhatsApp group and additional aid (Photo: MoE/Facebook)
