- reaffirms commitment to regional co-operation
MINISTER of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Hugh Hilton Todd, met with Secretary-General of the Organisation of American States (OAS), Mr. Albert Ramdin, on the sidelines of the XII Italy–Latin America and the Caribbean Conference, held on October 6–7, 2025, in Rome, Italy.
During their engagement, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles and values enshrined in the OAS Charter, emphasising the importance of unity, democracy, and co-operation across the Americas.
Secretary-General Ramdin commended Guyana for its unwavering support to the OAS and its active role in advancing the organisation’s mission. He also praised President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s strong leadership within CARICOM and the wider Latin American and Caribbean region.
Minister Todd, in turn, expressed Guyana’s continued dedication to working collaboratively with the OAS to promote sustainable development, democratic governance, and regional integration.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening co-operation on issues of mutual interest and advancing initiatives that contribute to the collective well-being of OAS member states.
The meeting underscored Guyana’s ongoing efforts to maintain robust engagement with hemispheric partners and to play an active role in shaping policies that foster stability, prosperity, and shared progress across the Americas.
