The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has formally declared Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali reelected as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, confirming the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) as the official winner of the September 1 General and Regional Elections.
Ali, who will serve a second term in office, was formally declared after all six commissioners met and certified the results.
According to PPP/C Commissioner Sase Gunraj, the seat allocation in the 65-member National Assembly is as follows: People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) – 36 seats, We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) – 16, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) – 12, and Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) – 1.
The swearing-in ceremony for the Ninth Executive President, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is scheduled for Sunday at State House.
