The Guyana Elections Commission has signalled that it is ready and fully prepared to conduct General and Regional Elections on Monday.
This was disclosed by Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Vishnu Persaud on Sunday during the commission’s final press briefing ahead of the September 1 polls.
“We at this time are fully prepared to conduct the General and Regional elections tomorrow,” he said.
This position, he disclosed is backed by feedback received from Returning Officers across the country which indicate that everything is in place for the conduct of the election.
Persaud told the news conference that distribution of election material was well underway with supplies pre-positioned in the various electoral districts.
Some 757,690 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots at 2,790 polling stations across Guyana on September 1.
