BCB’s two-day first-division tournament…
OPENER Ari Afrizal Kadir stroked an imperious double century, former Test player Veerasammy Permaul registered a ton, while fast bowler Naeem Khan captured 5-16 as Albion crushed Skeldon by an innings and 348 runs over the weekend at Albion.
In the second-round encounter of the Berbice Cricket Board’s Two-Day, First-Division Tournament, the hosts amassed a massive 494-7 declared as Kadir, with an unbeaten 202 joined Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club’s Junior Sinclair, who achieved a ‘double’ in the first round against police.

Permaul clobbered a pugnacious 155 and shared in a match- winning partnership with Kadir.
Jonathan Foo (56) and Damion Cecil (46) also contributed to the carnage after they had both gotten centuries in the first round against Port Mourant.
With just two rounds played, four Albion batters have already notched up ‘three-figure’ scores.
In the match which was played at the historic Albion Community Centre Ground, Skeldon were bundled out for 84 batting first and by stumps on day one, Kadir, was on 159 and when he reached his double century, Albion declared on 494-7, inside the first hour’s play on day two.
With a daunting 406 deficit, Skeldon fared even worse in their second innings, collapsing for 58.

Khan had three scalps, while left-arm-spinner Gouraf Ramesh (4-10) were the architects of destruction as Skeldon were decimated in an early end to the one-sided affair.
Dharmesh Seenaine (20) was the only batter to offer resistance to Ramesh who had matches figures of 8-37 and Khan took three wickets for match figures of 8-45.
The tournament has been suspended until after the elections (September 1) due to the unavailability of some grounds which will serve as polling venues in Berbice. (Sean Devers)
