A 26-year-old labourer from New Amsterdam was recently remanded to prison after being charged with the murder of Ceon La Fleur, also known as “Shawn.”
Gregory De Jonge, called “Buckman,” a resident of High Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, appeared before Magistrate M. Mathias at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge of murder contrary to common law was read to him. He was not required to plead.

The charge stems from the fatal incident which occurred on May 4, 2025, at High Dam, Angoy’s Avenue. De Jonge was arrested the same day by police constable Europe and formally charged on May 9 by the police.
Following his court appearance, De Jonge was remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned to June 2, 2025.
