THE LNDCH4 consortium has been awarded the prestigious “Deal of the Year Award” by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) for its groundbreaking Gas-to-Energy (GtE) project in Wales, West Bank Demerara. The announcement was made on Wednesday, marking a significant international recognition for the transformative energy initiative currently underway in Guyana.
The award underscores LNDCH4’s expertise in delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions with far-reaching socio-economic impact. The consortium—formed through a joint venture between U.S.-based companies Lindsayca Inc. and CH4 Systems—was specifically established to execute Guyana’s first-of-its-kind Gas-to-Energy project.
Designed with cutting-edge technology, the GtE project will utilise modular gas processing for rapid deployment, combined-cycle generation for high efficiency and low emissions, and infrastructure adapted to Guyana’s tropical conditions. Once completed, it is expected to generate 300 megawatts of clean, affordable electricity—cutting the country’s reliance on imported fuels and reducing electricity costs for both households and businesses by up to 50%.
In addition to lowering energy prices, the project will expand power access in underserved communities and is projected to eliminate more than 1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
LNDCH4 met and exceeded EXIM’s rigorous standards for quality, health, safety, environmental practices (QHSE), and corporate social responsibility (CSR), key criteria for earning the award.
“Our work in Guyana exemplifies our mission to deliver sustainable and scalable energy solutions that uplift economies and communities,” said Juan Bellosta, CEO of CH4 Group. “We are honoured by this recognition and grateful to our partners and the Government of Guyana for their shared vision and collaboration.”
The award adds to growing international acknowledgment of Guyana’s efforts to modernise its energy infrastructure and transition to cleaner, more reliable sources of power as the country continues its rapid economic development.
