IN a continued effort to foster trust and improve public safety, members of the Guyana Police Force conducted a community outreach on Monday, April 14, 2025, in the Grove Sea-Dam area, Region 4B.
The initiative, led by Inspector Jewan and supported by a Corporal and ranks from both the Criminal Investigation Department (C.I.D.) and the Traffic Department, aimed to address key issues affecting the predominantly Spanish-speaking community.
To ensure inclusivity and clear communication, the outreach exercise was conducted with the support of a translator. Residents were actively engaged on a range of topics, all geared toward raising awareness and enhancing community cooperation with law enforcement.
Key topics discussed included: Noise Nuisance, Family Violence and the Importance of Reporting Abuse, Drug Use and Trafficking: Laws and Consequences, Assault, Abusive Language, and Threatening Behavior, Break and Enter, Simple Larceny, and Related Penalties, Damage to Public and Private Property, Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Documentation Requirements, Traffic Laws, Common Offences, and Road Safety Practices and Visibility and Pedestrian Safety at Night.
The outreach provided residents with an opportunity to raise their own concerns, which were addressed on the spot by the police team.
Inspector Jewan used the forum to stress the importance of maintaining peace and unity, emphasising the Guyana Police Force’s dedication to working alongside citizens to reduce crime and foster safer communities.
“We are committed to supporting you, educating you, and ensuring that everyone feels secure,” said Inspector Jewan. “Together, we can build a more peaceful and harmonious community.”
Regional Division 4B reaffirmed its commitment to proactive engagement, noting that community outreach and education remain vital tools in promoting law and order throughout Guyana.
