COMMANDER of Regional Division 4 ‘B’, Senior Superintendent Khalid Mandall, led a community outreach exercise along the Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara, on Monday between 11:30 hrs and 13:30 hrs.
He was accompanied by Chief Inspector Lyte, Sergeant Jewan, Detective Constable McIntosh, and a team of police ranks as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and foster stronger relationships with the business community.
The outreach aimed to address security concerns, promote crime prevention strategies, and encourage open communication between law enforcement and local businesses. During the engagement, Commander Mandall met with several business owners and managers to discuss safety measures and strategies to improve security in the area. To enhance police-business relations, he shared his personal contact number, reinforcing the importance of direct communication.
Business owners were urged to adopt preventive measures, including installing security cameras and remaining vigilant against suspicious activities. They were encouraged to report any unusual behaviour promptly to the authorities to mitigate potential threats.
Bar owners were reminded of their responsibilities under the Noise Nuisance Act and were urged to comply with sound regulations to ensure their operations do not disrupt the community. Additionally, discussions focused on the dangers of driving under the influence, with bar owners encouraged to promote designated drivers to prevent alcohol-related traffic incidents.
The outreach underscored the importance of mutual co-operation and trust between law enforcement and the business sector. Commander Mandall and his team emphasised that fostering strong community partnerships was essential to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.
The initiative is part of Regional Division 4’B’s ongoing commitment to engaging with the community, addressing concerns, and strengthening public safety efforts across the region.
