THE Apollo Theatre shone with Caribbean talent over Labour Day weekend as Machel Montano and other Caribbean music icons brought the audience to life.
Even Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Mottley, made a visit, posing for a photo with Montano which was shared to social media.
Calypso icons took to the stage on Monday night for Calypso Uptown, another star-studded night.
In a social media post, Montano said the event was truly unforgettable:
“I am so grateful we had the opportunity to showcase the best of Calypso and Soca on Labour Day Monday in New York with this level of production!!! The talent on that stage blew my mind.”
Well-known stars such as Superblue, Crazy, Farmer Nappy, Lyrikal, Lord Nelson, Rikki Jai, Mical Teja, Gypsy, Chuck Gordon, Karene Asche, Aaron Duncan, Zachary Ransome, Myron B, Black Sage and more brought the Caribbean to New York City with their favourite hits from Friday to Monday, over the Labour Day weekend.
Montano also thanked various sponsors, including the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), the Sport and Culture Fund of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Visit Trinidad, and the Paria Fuel Trading Company. (Loop News)
