It was revealed that the company currently has a 50 per cent female population compared to 46 per cent to last year.

In her remarks, General Manager of the GNNL, Moshamie Ramotar said: “Just last year we set the ambitious goal of meeting this milestone. Last year it was 46 per cent and I am thrilled to see that we have successfully achieved it.”

“International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that while one day may not be enough to honour and appreciate the contributions of women, it provides a dedicated space for us to come together and reflect on the progress that we have made. Today I want to express my gratitude to the incredible women who make GNNL the dynamic and thriving workplace that it is.

“To my fellow female colleagues, your presence is not only acknowledged but deeply valued. You play multiple roles, we all know that; givers of life, care givers, homemakers, and yet you still come to GNNL and you just do your work without any complaints, and just effortless. Your ability to balance your work life and family life is commendable,” she added.

Ramotar also urged her staff to uplift and support each other, as there is no limit to what can be achieved when driven by determination and shared commitment to success.

Meanwhile keynote speaker at the ceremony, Project Coordinator, Inter- Development Bank, Lisa Mae Agard, in her feature address said that in order to be able to accelerate, women first need to remember to believe in themselves.

This she said, may sound simple, but it is sometimes difficult to believe that concurring goals and achieving success can happen.
She encouraged the women of GNNL to write down their goals and dreams, everything that they may want to do, to see themselves accelerate and move to the next level, and cautioned them to ensure that the goals they set are realistic, measurable and things they can accomplish.

“You need to believe in yourself and work assiduously to ensure that you are there. As women, regardless of what field, or whatever job portfolio you might hold, when you submit a report or when you do a presentation, they must remember that you worked hard,” she said.

Each female staff was presented with tokens of appreciation.
