Dyna’s Ravens and Kwakwani Untouchables will, this evening, (Saturday) meet in a must win encounter for a coveted spot in the inaugural One Guyana Basketball League Finals set for the National Gymnasium Hard Court at 19 hours.
Kitty/Campbellville’s Dyna Ravens are locked 1-1 in their ongoing Harpy Eagle’s Conference finals with Kwakwani Untouchables.
Untouchables have proved their worth with some eye-catching performances in the first round of the playoff, to see off the challenge from South Ruimveldt Mambas after qualifying as one of the top team in that conference.
In the series, Dyna’s Ravens claimed the first game 70-52 in a blowout performance with youngster Jude Corlette leading the pack with 20 points.
He got good support from his skipper Dominic Vincente with 13 buckets.
Untouchables led by Jamal Gilkes with 18 points and Domair Gladstone (12 points) rebounded with a 79-57 points victory to level the series in game 2.
The likes of Corlette and Gilkes will have to do it again as they duel it out in the decider with the winner advancing to the One Guyana League Final.
Meanwhile, the next match-up at 21:00 hours sees reigning club basketball champions Cummingsburg Bounty Colts aiming to avoid a clean sweep against the unbeaten Stabroek Eagles in the Jaguar Conference Finals.
The two are vying for the other spot in the league finals.
Eagles have been flawless in the league and are led by national player Travis Belgrave will be hoping to play their best basketball to complete the sweep on their way to their first senior finals in years.
They showed Colts their quality with 73-64 point win in the final series opener with their skipper leading the way with 30 points.
Belgrave, led from the front and guided his team to the win despite a game high 37 points from Colts veteran Shelroy Thomas.
Thomas had support from young gun Carmelo Man-Son-Hing.
The tournament, which tipped off in august 2023 has $2 million up for grabs with a million for the winner and half a million for second place.
The league is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, G-boat Guyana and the National Sport Commission.
