THE Guyana Police Force (GPF), on Wednesday, received 13 motorcycles from several private sector entities/businesses across the country to help with its ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
The donors include Innovations America, J’s Supermarket, Two Brothers Service Station/ Shioil, Jaigobin Hotel and R. Kissoon Contracting Service.
This donation, according to the GPF follows the private sector’s unwavering commitment to partnering where possible with the police in its crime-fighting strategies.
During the short presentation ceremony, Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’, Calvin Brutus expressed that they are delighted to receive the donation from their corporate partners, as it will boost their ability to be mobile in communities.
He stated, “These cycles will go a long way in assisting us in being mobile, to move around in our patrol formations to ensure that we maintain safety within our communities.”
Deputy Commissioner Brutus said as well that they will be deploying the motorcycles directly into the anti-crime unit, to ensure that the areas that are hard to reach with four wheel vehicles are accessed and assistance is provided to residents of those communities.

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner noted that this addition will aid in ensuring communities are safe all around our country. He noted that this will go a long way towards ensuring that our society develops, as safe societies encourage investments.
He said: “And we are serving as an arm of the state, to ensure that we assist the state in the development process, in the same trajectory, that we are on right now.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Ravindradat Budhram stated that the motorcycles will be registered and maintained by the GPF and frequent inspections will be done to ensure that each motorcycle is in good working condition.
Both Budhram and Brutus expressed their appreciation to the business owners/representatives for their timely and much-needed donation.
They assured them that the motorcycles would contribute greatly to the force’s mandate of serving and protecting the nation.
Businessman Lorenzo Alphonso of Innovations America said the donation was made to aid the force in its crime-fighting momentum and efforts to make Guyana a safer country for all its citizens.
