OVER the weekend, Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken hosted his gift drive, whereby some 1,000 gifts were distributed to children at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Commissioner Hicken noted that although they are focused on the pressing issues related to work, this drive is a way of creating memories for children and instilling in them that it is okay to come to the police for any help they may need in the future.
He explained that he understands the outcome of not molding children, leaving them unsupervised and what can happen if that gap is not bridged.
Commissioner Hicken further said, “My experience may not be for the others, and so what I’m trying to do is to ensure that whatever changes are taking place, and the value we’re bringing with these changes, are across the board.”
The activity was held on Saturday ahead of Christmas to place smiles on the faces of hundreds of children from across the country.
In addition to children of police ranks and youth and scout groups from across the Police Regional Divisions, members of the public also benefitted from the gift drive.
