IN a momentous occasion, President Dr. Irfaan Ali has been bestowed with the prestigious Order of Freedom of Barbados, the highest national award of the country.
The announcement, made on Thursday, revealed President Ali as one of the Independence Day honourees, alongside Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
The distinguished honour is a testament to President Ali’s exceptional commitment to enhancing co-operation and fostering regional integration. The recognition specifically acknowledges his efforts in forging deeper social and economic partnerships aimed at uplifting the people of Barbados and the broader region.
Traditionally reserved for Bajans, the Order of Freedom of Barbados, in a rare move, has been granted to President Ali as an Honorary Award recipient. This exceptional recognition highlights the global impact of President Ali’s leadership and his dedication to collaborative initiatives.
Halim Khan, Head of Region Three Private Sector Inc. (R3PSi), extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Ali, emphasising the significance of the award.
