HALLOWEEN is not a popular local celebration, but that has not stopped persons from participating in the fun, themed events that are held every October.
One of this year’s events is an outdoor cinema experience, Friday 13th Cinema, which will be hosted by Miss Guyana Teen Scholar 2023, Akeelah Andrew.
This “spooktacular” movie night is one that promises to be packed with fun events for the entire family. The plan is to transform the Promenade Gardens into a Halloween-like venue and leave attendees with experiences they will talk about and relive for months to come.
This fundraiser is one of many projects being organised by The Imperial House to give back to underprivileged communities.
According to Akeelah, these projects have been executed by The Imperial House over the years. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought them to a halt.
The proceeds from the outdoor cinema will go towards the upcoming ‘Christmas in Charlestown’ event.
“This year, we plan to come back ‘full swing’ for the holiday,” Andrew remarked.
Tonight, patrons will be treated to a live performance of Mark McWatt’s most popular and perhaps his most adored poem, Ol’ Higue. They can also look forward to participating in games that are guaranteed to have their hearts (and maybe their brains) racing and adrenaline pumping. These games are: dog and the bone, burn the house down, and an ol’ higue version of freeze and melt.

Drinks and snacks are a must of course, and will be on sale. Among the added attractions is the opportunity to win a $5,000 KFC voucher, but you only stand a chance of winning it if you are dressed in a creative costume.
Persons can visit The Imperial House’s Facebook to see the amazing movie choices they have lined up.
The event’s start time is 17:00hrs and everyone must be at least 13 years old to gain entry. The $1000 entrance fee can be paid at the gate.
