Griffith hits ton as TSC, QC advance from GT Zone
A MASTERFUL 137 with nine sixes and 14 fours by Queen’s College’s Malachi Griffith highlighted Sunday’s action in the Demerara zone of GCB’s 50 overs national U-23 club tournament
At the Queen’s College ground, Transport Sports Club (TSC) and Queen’s College advanced from the Georgetown Zone when they emerged victors against Ogle and Golden Grove respectively.
At QC Number Two Ground TSC defeated Ogle by six wickets after dismissing Ogle for 138 in 34.4 and responding with 143-4 in 17.1 overs.
Ricky Kissoon top scored with 27 from 52 balls with a single boundary, while Shivanand Goosein scored 26 from 27 balls with two fours and a couple of sixes but only Andrew Samaroo with 17 from 37 balls with three sixes, of the other batters reached double figures,

Emmanuel Lewis 3-41, Stephon Sankar 3-28 and Dave Mohabir who had 2-9 from 10 amazingly frugal overs, were the main wicket-takers.
Alvin Mohabir scored an unbeaten 69 from 38 balls with fours and three sixes and got support from Adrian Hinds’ 25 from just 18 balls with five fours.
With two runs to win, Riyad Latif lifted Hijay Gainda for six to end to game in emphatic style.
Shankar Sohadeo had 2-45, while Aroon Gainda had 2-19.
At QC Number One Ground, the home team amassed 330-9 off 44 overs with Griffith leading the way before he was run out. He got support from Ntini Permaul, who hit eight fours and a six in 49, Tuen Hicks, Lakeram Ramotar and Kevin Williams with 17 each.
Kelon Stephens had 3-38 for Golden Grove who were bowled out for 191 in 40 despite 70 from Dominique Glasgow who reached the 11 times and cleared it once.
Stephen returned with the bat to hit two sixes and three fours in 31 as Sunil Joshua grabbed 4-37 while Kampta Seepersaud and Daniel Persaud had three wickets each. (Sean Devers)
