Guyana’s U-15s beat the touring Young Genius Cricket Academy (YGCA) from Florida by 36 runs yesterday at the GCC Bourda.
Guyana elected to bat on an under prepared pitch and heavy outfield in a game which started one and a half hours late due to the arrival of the American team early yesterday morning.

In the first of a three-match series which commenced at 11:00hrs, Guyana were bowled out in 35.5 overs for 113 runs before restricting the tourists to 77-9 off their allotted 40 overs in a low-scoring encounter.
Guyana, runners-up to Trinidad & Tobago in this year’s Regional U-15 tournament, lost their last four wickets for 10 runs as no batter reached 20.

Adrian Hetmyer, the nephew of West Indies batter, Shimron Hetmyer, and son of former Guyana U-19 batter, Seon Hetmyer, top scored with 19 from 37 balls with a solitary boundary.

Hetmyer shared in 39 run fourth wicket stand with fellow Berbician Romario Ramdehol who smashed the game’s only six, along with a four in a 12-ball 14 after the pair joined forces at 22-3.

Jonathan Mentore, the son of former Guyana U-19 batter and City Mayor, Alfred Mentore, faced 67 balls in his carefully constructed 18 before he was last out while Arun Gainda (12) was the only other batter to reach double figures.
Extras contributed 17 as pacer Rishi Jadala had 2-31 for the USA lads.

In their turn at the crease, only the USA’s Trilok Nanan and Daniel Pydana with 13 each reached double digits as Ramdehol and Dhanesh Persaud captured two wickets each.

The second game is scheduled for today at the same venue from 9:30hrs while the final match will be played tomorrow at Bourda.
