POLICE have recovered the body of 50-year-old Sunil Durga, who was wanted in connection with the murder of his ex-lover, 36-year-old Telisha Domandeo.
Durga’s body was found next to the Brotherson pump station in Canje Creek, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), on Sunday and it is believed that he might have died by suicide.
According to reports, there were no visible marks of violence on Durga’s body.
In an interview with the press, Durga’s older brother, Chowdharilall Rameshand, stated that the family was informed, on Sunday morning, that his brother’s body was floating near the pump station.

An investigation is currently underway, and the Police are awaiting the post-mortem report.
On April 21, 2023, Police received information about Domandeo’s body, which was wrapped in a multi-coloured blanket in Betsy Ground Village, East Canje Berbice. A wound was seen on her neck, and her head was almost severed.
Acting on information, Police from the Marine Section searched the Canje River within the New Forest Village area and found a mattress and a pillow with bloodstains.
Domandeo had left her Crabwood Creek home and was staying at her mother’s residence at Blairmont, West Bank Berbice. However, on April 14, she was allegedly abducted by Durga, with whom she had a child and a past relationship.
