GUYANA’S Women and Gender Equality Commission has registered its concern with a recorded incident shared on social media involving outgoing High Commissioner to India, Charrandass Persaud, where he is seen unpleasantly addressing a national of India in a New Delhi suburb.
The constitutional body commended President, Dr Irfaan Ali for quickly engaging Mr Persaud on the subject. “We are pleased that His Excellency, President Irfaan Ali has taken swift and decisive action,” the WGEC said in a statement published on Wednesday.
“Guyana has had a rich and distinguished history of diplomatic representation at the global level. Never before has any country representative behaved in such a manner as to cause us such embarrassment,” the body said.
The commission called for those who represent Guana to demonstrate exemplary conduct in public and personal life.
