A 40-year-old Moco-Moco Village, Rupununi farmer, last Friday, admitted that he fatally stabbed his drinking buddy in 2018.
Darren Williams called “Fox” appeared before Justice Brassington Reynolds at the Demerara High Court for the capital offence of murder. However, he opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
He admitted that, on December 29, 2018, at Moco-Moco Village, he unlawfully killed Elvis Aulicio, a 44-year-old farmer of Bon Fin, Brazil.
Justice Reynolds adjourned the matter until October 28, 2022, for a probation report on Williams.
According to reports, Williams and Aulicio were known to each other and, on the day in question, they were at a birthday party consuming alcohol.
An argument ensued between the men after Williams accused Aulicio of stealing his labba meat from his haversack.
Reports are that after Aulicio left the party, Williams followed him to the Moco-Moco Savannah and stabbed him to the neck with a knife.
Williams left Aulicio there to die and made good his escape. The body was later discovered by passersby.
