REPRESENTATIVE teams from Amelia’s Ward Jets Basketball Club emerged winners of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s (LABA) 3X3 competitions which were held last Saturday, with the preliminary rounds and semi-finals and finals on Sunday at the Retrieve Hard Court in Linden.
The specially arranged tournaments attracted 11 teams in the Senior category while eight participated in the Under-17 competition, where trophies and replicas were sourced through president of the LABA, Lawrence Simon.
In the Under-17 competition final on Sunday, Jets #1, comprising eventual tournament Most Valuable Player Tishawn Kitt, Shantese Campbell and Julian Gordon, defeated Jets #2, represented by Keishawn Kitt, Jomrel Peters and Stephen George.
Placing third were Retrieve Raiders with Neil Marks (Jr), Orlon Beckles and Lemuel Wilson, who defeated Kings #2 which was made up of Yaniel Easton, Owen Hopper and Carmelo Man-Son-Hing.
In the senior competition, Jets #4 took the honours when they overcame Royals 15-10 in the final. Jets #4 were led by Most Valuable Player Quincy Easton against a Royals side which was led by Immanuel La Rose.
The Jets #4 had eliminated Jets #1 to reach the final while Royals knocked out Kings #1 to secure a place in the championship game. (Joe Chapman)
