THE Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Tuesday received a number of items as gifts from the Volunteer Youth Corp and BPI Guyana Inc.
According to a release, the Volunteer Youth Corp Inc from Georgetown donated a quantity of women’s sanitary items, pampers, hand sanitisers, hair shampoo and conditioner, dish-washing liquid and canned food to the hospital.
The items were handed over to the Maternity Post Natal Department and will be distributed to the patients. Vandetta Carter and Jeneal Batson handed over the items to Sisters Holder and Ferguson, who received them on behalf of the hospital.
BPI Guyana Inc, distributor for APOTEX pharmaceutical products, on its part donated two tablets to the GPHC Cardiology Department.

The release noted that the tablets will enhance and improve the department’s education programme. Bharat Boodhoo presented the tablets on behalf of BPI and Dr Michael Chin accepted for the GPHC, the release said.
GPHC Public Relations Officer Jai Lall said the management and staff of the hospital thanked both donors for their invaluable contributions. He noted too that the representatives from both organisations say that they were happy to be able to be of assistance to the hospital and to be given an opportunity to serve their fellow Guyanese.
“In keeping with HE President, Irfaan Ali’s slogan of a ‘One Guyana’, more Guyanese are expressing their patriotism and reaching out to help their fellow Guyanese in the time of need through different mediums. Answering the call to serve humanity has taken on a new meaning at an individual and corporate level, whether big or small,” Lall said.
