Number-one seed, Ashely Khalil has booked her spot in today’s final of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Senior Championships after she defeated countrywoman Akeila Wiltshire 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 in the semi-finals on Monday evening in Kingston, Jamaica.
It will be the first senior CASA final for Khalil who recently competed at the Commonwealth Games in England, and she will face either fellow Guyanese Taylor Fernandes or Ashley DeGroot, who was competing up to press time.
More so, Alex Arjoon faced nine-time and current defending champion Chris Binnie Monday evening in the Men’s semi-final.
Additionally, all three of Guyana’s doubles teams are through to their respective final.
Guyana’s Jason-Ray and Nryon Joseph defeated Jamaicans Bruce Burrowes and Julian Morrison 2-0 (11-10, 11-7) to secure a place in today’s final from 11:20h.
The combination of DeGroot and Khalil will compete for the Women’s Doubles title against the Caymanian duo Jade Pitcairn and Michaela Rensburg from 10:00h, while Fernandes and Daniel Ince topped Trinidadians Chayse Mcquan and Claire Barcant 11-8, 11-10 to secure their spot in the final from 10:40h on Tuesday.
