MINIBUS conductor Warren Broomes, who was allegedly busted with cannabis hidden in his pants pocket, was, on Friday, remanded to prison by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.
Broomes, 34, of Edon Street, Tucville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where the drug possession charge was read to him.
He denied having 60 grams of cannabis in his possession on July 27 at Arapaima Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris, told the court that the cannabis was allegedly found in Broomes’ right-side front pants pocket when he was searched by police.
According to reports, Broomes, along with other men, was searched by the police during an operation at East La Penitence.
Morris further told the court that Broomes was recently convicted for drug trafficking and had to pay a fine of $5,000 and undergo 15 hours of mandatory community service.
Given the seriousness of the offence, Magistrate Daly remanded Broomes to prison until August 19.
