ATLANTIC Alliance Maritime and Offshore Training Institute (AAMOTI), a 100 per cent Guyanese-owned training institution, has achieved international compliance status from the UK-based Namaka Compliance.

Namaka Compliance announced, recently, that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AAMOTI to target opportunities within Guyana, a release said.

The MoU was signed to assist with the institution’s development and allows both Namaka and AAMOTI to work together to offer Local Content programmes.

Namaka Compliance delivers innovative compliance services encompassing digital and Virtual Reality Technology to ensure that the energy sector workforce is capable of being deemed compliant and competent, particularly where major accident hazards exist.

AAMOTI which is expected to be officially launched soon offers the highest standards of STCW, Maritime and Offshore training to equip students with the requisite knowledge, skills and discipline needed to start careers in the oil and gas sector, the release said.

Courses and programmes offered by AAMOTI are accredited by the Maritime Association of Jamaica (MAJ) and the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) of Guyana.

“Their institute is equipped with highly qualified faculty members with extensive Maritime experience and exemplary academic qualifications. The knowledge obtained from their courses can be applied in the fields and is highly relevant,” Namaka Compliance said in a statement recently.

To this end, AAMOTI will act as Namaka Compliance’s partner in Guyana considering that the government will be looking to utilise Guyanese-owned institutions per the requirements of the Local Content Act, rather than international training providers.

“The signing of this MoU allows us to work together and up-skill local nationals by delivering programmes to help transfer our knowledge of oil and gas expertise in Aberdeen to emerging markets in Guyana,” Jamie Murphy, Namaka Compliance Managing Director shared after the signing.
