Wartsila Operations Guyana has sponsored the equipment for Guyana’s male and female table tennis teams which are set to compete at the Commonwealth Games from July 28 – August 8 in England.

According to a press release, the company has decided to sponsor based on a request for the equipment for the eight players.

Country Manager, Duane Chase handed over a cheque to national coach Idi lewis in the presence of other members of the team at their Middle and East Street head office.

Lewis thanked the company for the financial support and indicated it will go a long way in offsetting the high expenses associated with preparing for major tournaments.

The team comprises Chelsea Edghill, Shemar Britton, Jonathan Van Lange, Natalie Cummings, Christopher Franklin, Thuraia Thomas, and Joel Alleyne.

The locally based players departed Sunday for Birmingham.
