GNNL’s former General Manager dies

NANDKUMAR Puran, former General Manager of the Guyana National Newspapers Limited (GNNL), passed away on Tuesday in Florida, United States of America (USA).

Puran, born October 23, 1949, lived in Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD); Lesbeholdel, Berbice; and Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Puran, born to Pooran Rambarran and Ponia Ragubir, was married to Jean Puran. He was the father of three children, and the grandfather of four.
In 2014, Puran retired from his post at the GNNL and migrated to the US with his wife.

During his time in Guyana, he was a former employee of Guyana National Industrial Company Inc., formerly known as Sprostons Ltd.; an internal auditor at the University of Guyana, and General Manager of Sterling Products.

Puran’s last surviving brother, Kenneth, told the Guyana Chronicle that he and his other seven siblings, including four sisters, looked to the now-late Puran as a father figure.
