A CUMMINGS Lodge, East Coast Demerara resident is currently in police custody after he was allegedly found with a loaded, unlicensed gun, and raw gold wrapped in duct tape at the Supenaam Stelling, in Region Two, on Sunday.
According to the police, ranks on vehicle patrol were at the speedboat landing at the stelling, at about 04:10hrs, when they observed the 41-year-old suspect acting in a “suspicious manner” while carrying a black haversack.
The suspect was searched, but nothing was found on him. However, an unlicensed, black 9MM Luger pistol, with six live matching rounds and 16 ounces, four pennyweights of raw gold wrapped in duct tape were reportedly found inside his haversack.
He was arrested, and is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
