Gunmen rob Parfaite Harmonie family

According to the police, at about 20:45 hrs, Suresh Balram, 46; his wife Bibi, 40 and their daughters, ages 15 and 17, were at their home when they were confronted in their living room by three men, who were armed with guns.

The perpetrators then ordered the victims to lay face down on the floor and tied their hands behind their backs. Thereafter, the armed men ransacked the house and grocery shop before making good their escape in a northern direction.

The victims managed to untie themselves and reported the matter. Bibi and her husband were taken to the West Demerara Hospital where they were treated and sent away.

The armed men escaped with four cell phones, $1.2 million in jewellery, $60,000 in local currency, US$125 and other valuables.

The investigation is ongoing.
