AS the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) continues to tackle micro-trafficking in Lethem, Region 9 (Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo), three men were arrested, on Thursday, with a quantity of cannabis.
According to a CANU release, the three men were arrested on the outskirts of Lethem, close to the Guyana-Brazil border. The trio was allegedly found with 31 small Ziploc bags of cannabis, weighing a total of 48 grams.
The men are currently in the custody of authorities as the investigation continues.
On Tuesday last, CANU officers conducted a narcotics operation in Lethem, which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis.
Three persons were arrested during the operation with a total 260 grams of what is believed to be cannabis, according to a CANU statement recently on the matter.
The anti-drug agency noted that these operations are part of their strategy to combat micro-trafficking within various communities, including schools, as recently reported in the media.
