THE New York Softball Cricket League (NYSCL) will stage its 17th annual Independence Legends and Masters Cup tournaments from July 1 to 3 in New York at venues to be announced later.

According to a release from NYSCL president, Eric Ferrier, his league is extending an invitation to all softball cricket leagues, associations and organisations to participate in these tournaments which will be played simultaneously at different venues.

The tournaments normally attract teams from the hosts New York, Guyana and Florida.
The tournaments will feature a 25-over format for the Independence Cup, 20-over for the Masters Cup Over-40 and 15 overs per side for the Legends Cup Over-50.

The participation fee per team for the Independence Cup, which features players in any age group, is US$1 200.
The Masters Cup participation fee is US$1 000, and all players must be born in or before 1982 to participate. The Legends Cup participation fee is US$900 and all players must be born in or before 1972.

The release further stated that players in the Masters and Legends categories must present a government-issued photo identification card showing their correct name and date of birth if called upon by the organszing committee.

All teams will be required to submit rosters with a maximum of fifteen (15) players, clearly stating their captain and vice-captain and each roster must be submitted at least one week prior to the start of the tournament.

Several individual batting and bowling prizes, along with man-of-the-match and Most Valuable Player (MVP) prizes for each tournament will be up for grabs while the winners of each tournament will receive a cash incentive.
The release also pointed out that the number of teams participating will determine each competition’s format and additional information will be provided as the tournaments approach.
