CHIEF-OF-STAFF of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Brigadier Godfrey Bess, over the past week has been engaged in bilateral and multilateral meetings at the Conference of American Armies currently underway in Brasilia, Brazil.
The Conference of American Armies (CAA) is an International Military Organisation consisting of and commanded by Armies from the American Continents. It is currently in its 34th cycle.
According to the GDF, the conference entails a continuous input of knowledge by each army in the different matters and topics defined as being of common interest that are shared and then analysed in subsequent specialised meetings.
Those interests, the GDF noted, are then studied in the scope of the different modes of interaction, exercises and projects developed by the delegates of the member armies.
The 35th cycle of the Conference of American Armies over the next two years will dedicate its proactive and creative minds to establishing a process of transformation and preparation of the “Army of the Future” for the expansion of cooperation and integration in facing the challenges and threats that may affect the security and stability of the American continent.
Plans are already in place for the Guyana Defence Force to host a specialised planning meeting in February 2023 in collaboration with the United States military.
“The GDF, and by extension, Guyana, remains dedicated to establishing and maintaining long-lasting bilateral and multilateral ties with friendly nations in all aspects of development,” GDF noted.
