THE Dharm Shala (Home of Benevolence for all Races), on Thursday will be celebrating 101 years of selfless service to the nation.
The Dharm Shala in Georgetown has been in existence for 101 years while the branch in Berbice was established 80 years ago.
The benevolent home, in a release, said it is proud to be involved in humanitarian charity, pointing out that its objectives have remained unchanged for all its years of existence.
“From reports received from other parts of the world, we can only conclude that God has conditioned our minds to continue this most humanitarian charity founded on divine inspiration,” the non-governmental organisation said, adding: “We thank Almighty God for giving us the perception and wisdom to recognise the dilemma and urgent needs of those who seek our help whilst facing the vicissitudes of life.”
It also expressed gratitude to all its donors, however big or small.
“The Dharm Shala ‘kitchen fires’ burn 365 days of the year, never stopping. No one ever goes to bed hungry,” the release concluded.
