5 new COVID-19 cases; 4 in ICU

THE Ministry of Health has reported that there are currently 114 active COVID-19 cases in Guyana, following the addition of five new ones on April 9, 2022.
The five newly-confirmed cases were all recorded in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).

The country has now recorded a total of 63,315 cases since March 2020.
Of the active cases, four persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, at Liliendaal, on the lower East Coast Demerara; ten are in institutional isolation; 84 are in home isolation, and 16 are in institutional quarantine.

Recovered cases stand at 61,991, while the number of deaths remain at 1,226.
