Female robbery accused remanded until April 19

RONDA Junor, the mother of a three-year-old on Monday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a robbery charge, and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Delon Bess.

The South Ruimveldt resident denied using a surgical blade to rob one Joel Jacobs of $208,000 at Regent and Wellington Streets on April 1, 2022.

On the day in question, Jounor reportedly asked Jacobs if he’d like to do business with her, but he snubbed her and kept on going about his business. Not taking no for an answer, Junor kept pursuing Jacobs, and as she walked behind him, two unidentified males seized the opportunity to accost him; one choked him, while the other pushed his hands in the victim’s pocket. At this point, Junor, who was reportedly armed with a surgical blade, used it to cut Jacobs on his left hand.

Prosecutor Doodnauth Bridgemohan objected to her being granted bail due to the seriousness and prevalence of the matter, and as such, Junor was remanded to prison until April 19.
