… Chandrika, Khan hit centuries

FORMER West Indies opener Rajendra Chandrika and former first-class leg-spinner Amir Khan hit centuries to highlight the first round of the East Coast Cricket Board/Navin-Hanso 50 Overs first division cricket competition, which was played last weekend.

Zone A
At the Enterprise Community Centre ground, Enmore Cricket Club defeated Enterprise Busta Sports Club by 88 runs. Batting first, Enmore CC made 245-7 off their allotted 50 overs with Khan hitting an even century before being dismissed, while Chaitram Balgobin, batting at number six, supported well with 81. Bowling for Enterprise Sports Club, Dave Persaud took 3-33.
In reply, Enterprise were dismissed for 167 in 38.1 overs with Chandrika batting through the innings to stroke an unbeaten 101. Richard Chatura took 3-29 while Khan returned with the ball to take 3-43 to complete a fine all-round performance.

In another match played at Strathavon, Mahaica Sports Club were skittled out for just 77 in 24.1 overs with Darshan Persaud making 30 and Andy Ali supporting with 26. Prakash Chowti had impressive figures of 4-4 in 3.1 overs and Gobindram Hemraj took 4-20 from 7 overs bowling for Strathavon.
Strathavon then took just 14.2 overs to get to their target losing 3 wickets in the process. Chowti returned with the bat to hit an unbeaten 20 while Chaves Ageday was unbeaten on 17 when the run chase was completed. Persaud took all 3 of the wickets to fall for Strathavon.

Zone B
Over at LBI Facility Ground, the home team lost to Ogle Cricket Club by 5 wickets. LBI Cricket Club took first strike after winning the toss but managed to get only 112 before they were dismissed in the 42nd over. Moonsammy Veerasammy top-scored with 22. D. Ranbalall was the chief destroyer with fantastic figures of 4-10 in 9 overs while B. Singh and D. Junior had 2 wickets apiece.
Ogle CC in reply, raced to their target in just 20.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Leading the run chase was A. Jitlall with 45. Bowling for LBI CC, R. Deonarain had impressive figures of 3-13 in 4 overs while Y. Bishun took 2-17.

Play in the East Coast Cricket Board/Navin-Hanso 50 Overs first division cricket competition continues on Sunday April 6, 2022 with a host of matches.
Strathavon take on Enterprise SC at Strathavon, Enmore CC will host Fairfield CC, Mahaica battle Lusignan at Lusignan, Buxton vs Golden Grove at Buxton, LBI host Better Hope and at the Enterprise Community Centre ground, Ogle CC and Industry Stars will do battle.
