ALFRED Braithwaite, now-convicted of attempted murder, was remanded to prison on Thursday as he awaits his sentencing following a guilty verdict returned by a 12-member jury at the Demerara High Court.
Braithwaite was on trial before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall for the offence which read that on January 27, 2017, in the county of Demerara, he attempted to murder Chefton Haymer.
He had pleaded not guilty at the time and was represented by attorney, Teriq Mohammed.
Braithwaite’s bail was revoked as he now awaits his sentencing.
According to reports, on the day in question, Braithwaite and Haymer were reportedly gambling with cards.
It is alleged that the two had a disagreement over the sequence of cards. It was Haymer who raised this issue, demanding the return of his money.
Braithwaite, however, refused and left the game. He later returned with another man, who was reportedly armed with a cutlass. The duo attacked Haymer.
