International Women’s Day messages

“Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day. Every year, women across the globe are recognised for their achievements in the social, economic, cultural, and political dimension of development as they forge to break stereotypes, bias and discrimination while in pursuit of their goals thus paving the way for the future generation.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2022, Management has made it possible for opportunities to be presented to empower women of GuySuCo by assigning them to head the major departments on the Estate and the corporation’s Head Office albeit for one (1) day. Leading this phenomenal group of women is Ms. Rama Persaud who is assigned to head the Corporation as Chief Executive Officer for the day.

Just as women are integrated in the workforce worldwide, GuySuCo also integrates its women workforce and ensures equal rights are enjoyed by them. Moreover, the Corporation understands the importance of the inter-connectivity of gender and social equity and as such recognises the innovative ideas of all women who strive towards building a sustainable future.

As Guyana joins the rest of the World in the observance of International Women’s Day, we salute and thank all our dedicated and hardworking women for their invaluable contributions to the Sugar Industry and to the economic, social and cultural development of this one Guyana.
