TERRENCE Thomas called “Oosh”, on Thursday, appeared in the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court charged for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at her mother’s ‘C’ Field, Sophia home.

Thomas of East La Penitence, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on January 27, 2021, he murdered Loretta Simon.

He was remanded to prison and will return to court in March for his second appearance.

According to police reports, on the day in question, Simon of Cooper Street, Albouystown, was at her mother’s residence when Thomas visited and started demanding that answers be provided as to why she no longer wanted to be with him.

Eyewitnesses reportedly told police that the woman asked the suspect to leave the premises. However, he suddenly whipped out a knife from his pants waist and reportedly stabbed the woman in the region of her heart.

The victim ran a short distance before she collapsed. Thomas then reportedly dropped the knife in the yard and made good his escape.

The woman was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

One relative had said that the perpetrator was angry because Simon was purportedly pregnant for someone else.

Thomas, who was on the run from the police, was apprehended on Monday at a house in Queenstown, Georgetown.
