KN should be big enough to publish my letter, apologise and move on

Dear Editor,
DESPITE doing several pieces on what they alleged were untested “fishy” marine cage technology plan by the government, including ‘dem boys seh’ and a full editorial based on poor research and scholarship by the reporting staff, especially since the reports were highly prejudicial against the government in the debate then being conducted in Parliament, the Kaieteur News has had in its possession a response from me since 2nd February, 2022, disputing tits “fishy” reports, but have failed to give me my democratic right to have my opposing view published. The Stabroek and the Chronicle have published my letter.

This technology is now mainstream commercial practice, and we have been working on the feasibility of commercial shrimp production, and commercial marine and river-cage culture, so I am stating categorically that we have done legitimate feasibility studies which have been ongoing for nearly one year since I was appointed. There is therefore no way that any staff reporter can produce one shred of legitimate evidence to repudiate one word of what I have stated in my original letter, i.e., that these projects are not speculative or untried.

A newspaper which alleges that it is aggressive to see to it that the rights of the taxpayers in this country are upheld, should be big enough to publish my letter, apologise and move on.

Yours sincerely,
Anthony Vieira, National Aquaculture Coordinator.
