Singh to challenge for ECB presidency

POPULAR businessman and former vice-president of the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB), Dellip Singh, will be vying for the top post of the ECB.`

According to reliable sources, Singh has indicated his interest and has received support from several of the area committees. Singh brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of commerce being the former president of the Essequibo Chamber of Commerce as well as a former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Essequibo Technical Institute.

Meanwhile former national youth cricketer Norwayne Fredericks will also contest for the position while it is unclear whether acting president, Alvin Johnson, will seek re-election.

The ECB election is scheduled for today, from 11:00hrs at the Imam Bacchus Library in Affiance.

Two delegates each from the seven eligible area committees will be entitled to vote, while the proceedings will be supervised by Cricket Ombudsman, Malcolm Peters.
