FORMER Health Minister and current Adviser to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

According to a press statement from the hospital, the Dr. Ramsammy-led board is in place from January 1 to December 31, 2022.
The members of the Board of Directors are Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Malcolm Watkins; representative of the Guyana Medical Association, Head of Neurosurgery at GPHC, Dr. Amarnauth Dukhi;

Chartered Accountant, Harryram Parmessar; representative of the University of Guyana, Dr. Emanuel Cummings; representative of the Guyana Nurses Association, Cleopatra Barkoye; representative of the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU), Dawn Gardener; representative of the Ministry of Finance, Verna Adrian, and two ex-officio members, Chief Executive Officer of GPHC, Robbie Rambarran, and Director of Medical and Professional Services at GPHC, Dr. Fawcett Jeffery.

The members of the board held their inaugural meeting in GPHC’s boardroom, on Wednesday.
