THE Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club, partnering with Apostles Nigel London and Littleton Lambert out of the United States, through its special Committee, successfully organised the 4th LonLam Classic under the theme, ‘Investing in Passion, Riding with Integrity’.

The event, held in Linden last Sunday, was open to all categories of male and female cyclists, catering to Veterans Over-45, Veterans Under-45, Seniors, Juniors, Juveniles, BMX Under-6 and BMX Open.
The event started a little after 13.00hrs from the start line at KD & J Supermarket in Amelia’s Ward.

From the KD&J Supermarket, racers headed to the Amelia’s Ward Outpost then into Toucan Drive Junction and returned to the starting line to complete each lap of the various categories.

Continental Cycling Club’s National cyclist Walter Grant-Stewart won the Veterans Under- 50 five-lap event from Kaieteur-Attack Racing’s Kwame Ridley, with Nigel London of Linden Bauxite Flyers taking third.

The outstanding cyclist in the Open 15-lap event was We Stand United’s Briton John, who out-sprinted Jamual John of Foundation Cycling Club, with Paul DeNobrega of Team Evolution occupying third spot from Walter Grant-Stewart of Continental, Marcus Keilierif of Kaieteur-Attack Racing. Team Evolution’s Curtis Dey who was sixth.

The Veterans Over-50 race ended with Team Evolution’s Andy Spencer in first place ahead of unattached Garfield Lorrimer second and Nigel Codrington third.

The BMX Under-9 half-lap winner was Marvellous London as among the girls S..Nedd came out top.

The Juniors four-lap race was won by We Stand United’s Alexander Leung from Team Alanis Cycling Club’s Sherwin Sampson with another We Stand United cyclist, Aaron Newton, copping third position.

The BMX one-lap race was won by Linden Bauxite Flyers’ Samuel Bellamy with teammates Julian Gordon and Jahame Henry placing second and third respectively.

The Junior Juveniles Boys BMX one-lap event ended with Jedjuan Hensords finishing first from Sorren Frank second and Stece Burbegte third.

In the female three-lap race the top cyclist was Team Coco’s Clivea Spencer, who topped Linden Bauxite Flyers’ Susan Hamilton and unattached Shenika Teixeira in third.

In the Juveniles three-lap race the winner was Aki. Europe who is unattached, ahead of Linden Bauxite Flyers’ Mark Lewis with Team Alanis’ Nivonne Wilson taking third position.

Over $400 000 in cash and trophies were up for grabs with support from Banks DIH Limited, Guyana Breweries Inc., KD&J Supermarket, Cevon’s Waste Management, Brazo’s Workshop and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
