TREVOR Allen of Parika Façade, East Bank Essequibo, was killed on Sunday after he was attacked and beaten by four men at Parika Facade, East Bank Essequibo.
Reports indicate that Allen and his two brothers were imbibing at a shop in the area when he got into an argument with one of his attackers.
According to Police Headquarters, as a result, he was dealt a cuff to the face during the scuffle that ensued. Shortly after, the other three suspects came armed with a cutlass and knives and dealt the victim several stabs and chops to the face and body.
The victim’s brother, Harvey Allen, made an attempt to rescue him but received a chop to the back, which caused him to seek refuge in the nearby canal where he watched the suspects continue to assault the victim.
The suspects then armed themselves with bricks and began to pelt at Allen who was raising an alarm.
Persons in the area summoned the police, but, upon arrival, the suspects had already made good their escape on foot, in different directions.
Police said, on arrival at the scene, Allen was seen lying motionless on the ground. The body was examined and investigators found five stab wounds to the abdomen and a chop wound to the forehead.
Allen was escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was then escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home where it is awaiting a post-mortem as investigations continue.
