GUYANA’s Table Tennis ace, Shemar Britton, will serve off his participation at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Ecuador Open contender today from 10:45am.
Britton, a former Caribbean U-21 and men’s singles champion, Caribbean championships Bronze medalist, men’s singles 2019 Guyana, and men’ singles under-21 Silver medalist, will be the lone Guyanese at the event which forms part of the ITTF World Contender Series.
The former Queen’s College and University of the West Indies Law student is a national men’s singles runner-up and one of Guyana’s most talented players. He will be flying the Golden Arrowhead at the tournament which wraps up November 6.
The tournament, according to the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), will be a compact one with over 24 male participants with players from Belgium, India, Peru, Puerto Rico, Austria and Mexico.
“This offers a great opportunity for Britton to have great match practice in assessing where his game is after over an 18-months hiatus from competition due to the Covid -19 pandemic,” the GTTA said in a release.
