GUYANA’S Ambassador to the US, Samuel Hinds, has expressed condolences to the family, government and people of the US on the passing of former US Secretary of State, Colin Powell.
Powell passed away last Monday.

“Colin Powell served the United States of America with dignity and distinction on the American and world stage to which he rose; his wisdom, forthrightness, professionalism, integrity, kindness and passion were notable,” said Ambassador Hinds, who added: “The contributions to the USA of this son of fellow Caribbean immigrants, justify, again, the words of open doors and welcome at the base of the Statue of Liberty, for which so many Guyana-born and others from the Caribbean and farther, must be thankful and the people of the USA can be justly proud.”

Former Secretary of State Powell, Ambassador Hinds said will be sorely missed.

“May we remember him in his legacy of courage and integrity on American national security and public service that will continue to inspire many in America and worldwide,” Ambassador Hinds concluded.
