… Several franchises make forced changes
THE Guyana Amazon Warriors are the only franchise not forced to make changes to their squad for this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which gets underway on August 26 in St Kitts and Nevis, where all the 33 matches will be played.
Yesterday, CPL announced the squads which saw significant changes for varying reasons, as compared to the names announced in May after the draft.
Jamaica Tallawahs have roped in former Amazon Warriors captain, Chris Green, for Shakib Al Hasan while St. Lucia Kings have lost Matthew Wade and replaced him with Timothy David.
Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders will be without Sandeep Lamichhane but managed to get another leg-spinner, Yasir Shah, as replacement while Tom Seifert replaces Sikandar Raza.
Barbados Royals have lost Chris Morris but have Glenn Phillips as replacement and Jake Lintott is in for Shafiqullah Ghafari.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have had most of the movement as they lost batsman Rassie van der Dussen, Anrjch Nortje, Wanindu Hasaranga and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Their replacements are Ravi Bopara, Paul van Meekeren, and Asif Ali.
The first match in what will be the ninth edition of the League features Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors from 10:00hrs, followed by Patriots and Royals from 19:00hrs.
