THREE armed bandits with a handgun and a cutlass recently robbed two females at 55 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, of their gold jewellery and other valuables amounting to over $300,000.

Reports indicated that the 47-year-old woman and 16-year-old teen were in front of their yard sitting with relatives and two neighbours barbecuing chicken when they were confronted by the bandits.

One of the suspects pointed a cutlass in the direction of one of the victims and told her not to move after which he relieved her of her gold bangles.

The other suspect pointed a handgun at another victim while relieving her of her gold chain as another suspect operated as a lookout.

Police said the entire incident lasted about 10 minutes after which the suspects made good their escape on foot.

The matter was reported to the police, who are investigating the incident.
