A stop and search exercise by ranks of the Sparendaam Station district, on Friday, led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man who was busted with a quantity of cannabis and cocaine.
According to a police report, the suspect, of First Street, Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was searched around 19:10 hrs but nothing was found on his person. However, a subsequent search was carried out next to where he was seated at the roadside.

Ranks reportedly found a transparent plastic bag containing a whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine and a black plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect reportedly denied ownership of the illicit items and was arrested.
The items were weighed and amounted to 80 grammes of cannabis and 10 grammes of cocaine.
He remains in custody pending charges.
